Husam is originally from Syria, where he earned his BSc. degree in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Damascus University. He would later earn his PhD in virology from the Albrecht University of Kiel in Germany.
His favorite thing to do in the lab is unraveling viral determinants in the congenital CMV (cCMV) to help develop therapeutic and prophylatic interventions against the vertical CMV transmission from mother to fetus.
His favorite thing to do in NYC is to the explore the different cuisine options, attend Broadway shows, and visit historical places.
